Welcome to MixedKnot! We’re thrilled you stumbled upon our blog. We’re not your average couple. Santiago hails from the U.S., a fusion of American and European roots. Meanwhile, I’m proudly Filipino, with a mix of Chinese, Spanish, and of course, Filipino heritage. Our love story spans continents and cultures, culminating in our decision to “TIE THE KNOT” after just 6 whirlwind months. From these diverse threads, we wove our “MIXED KNOT” and embarked on this incredible journey together.
Santi, with over two decades steeped in pastoral care, and me, armed with a science degree, found our paths intertwined by a shared connection to healthcare. His days as a hospital chaplain in Chicago’s Northwest suburb collided with my role as an allied health educator. The rest, as they say, is history.
Now, our world revolves around two dynamic forces: Y. Cazzandra and E. Celestina, our daughters. Their names are a tongue-twister even for them! They bring radiance to our lives, illuminating even the gloomiest days. But let’s be real, they also have a knack for driving us a tad bonkers – it’s a universal truth, isn’t it?
Ever wondered what daily life is like for an ordinary American family like us? Well, wonder no more. Our YouTube channel offers a peek into our vacations, the daily hustle of our kids, toy reviews, homeschool adventures, and even a taste of our culinary exploits, blending American and Asian flavors. It’s a mosaic of our lives in the U.S.
Beyond the lens, we’re committed to forging a supportive community for American-Asian couples. Relationships, as we all know, are intricate dances of compromise and understanding. Mix in differing backgrounds, traditions, and parenting styles, and you’ve got our reality. We’re here to navigate those waters together.
In the end, we aspire for our blog to be a sanctuary where couples like us can find solace and advice, a place where shared experiences form the bedrock of our connections. Together, we’ll craft the community we all deserve.
Thank you for joining us on this adventure. Stay safe, everyone!
Here’s our family’s quick video introduction.
Our Thoughts on Family Unity, Love, and Parenting
“Bear with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgive each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.” – Colossians 3:13
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” – 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
“Discipline your children, and they will give you peace; they will bring you the delights you desire.” – Proverbs 29:17
